He is a mechanical engineering specialist, graduated from Tsinghua University in 1970 and received his doctorate from the State University of New York (Buffalo) in 1984. He served as President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Member of the Standing Committee of Hubei Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Mayor of Wuhan City, Minister of Education and President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
He has long been committed to the teaching and research of mechanical design, CNC technology and intelligent manufacturing, and has researched and organized the implementation of the technical route for the development and promotion of the application of CNC, CAD and intelligent manufacturing. He proposed and practiced algorithm theories such as monotonicity analysis and optimization, direct interpolation in CNC machining, etc. He presided over the development of a series of software products such as Huazhong I. CNC system and optimization design, mechanical CAD, etc., which are widely used in machinery, aviation, aerospace, energy and other industries, creating significant social and economic benefits. He has won many national, provincial and ministerial science and technology progress awards, published more than 200 papers and 12 books.
In 1999, he was elected as a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

He has carried out a series of research on the basic theory of electro-hydraulic control, basic components and systems, as well as the development and engineering application of key technologies of shield and elevator equipment, and formed a complete technical route of "theory-component-system-equipment-application", which has made important contributions to the independent research and development of electromechanical and hydraulic equipment in China and achieved significant economic benefits. He won the first prize (2012, ranked 1st) and the second prize (2003, ranked 1st) of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

He was elected a Fellow of IEEE in 2012, a Fellow of Engineering Institute of Canada in 2014, and a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering in 2019. He received his bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Beijing Jiaotong University in 1983 and 1986, and his PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence in System Control from the Technical University of Compiegne, France in 1996. From 1997 to 1999, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Calgary, Canada. From 1999 to 2018, he was a Research Fellow, Senior Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Professor of Tongji University。Research Fellow and Principal Investigator at the National Research Institute of Canada. He is also editor-in-chief of IET CIM and deputy editor of IEEE TSMC, TASE and other magazines. His research interests mainly include collaborative design and manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, production scheduling, Internet of Things, big data, agent theory and application.He has published over 450 papers in scientific journals and international conferences in the related areas, among which more than 200 papers have been indexed by SCI, more than 12,000 times cited on Google papers (of which a single paper has been cited more than 900 times), with an H-index of 52.

Deputy Director and Researcher of Strategic Consulting Center, Chinese Academy of Engineering, Deputy Secretary General of National Industrial Base Expert Committee. His research interests are manufacturing power, intelligent manufacturing, industrial base and industrial cluster. As the main researcher of the team, he participated in the series of strategic studies on manufacturing power, industrial base (industrial base) strategy, China's new industrialization strategy, and carried out regional and enterprise empirical studies in Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, etc. He participated in the policy planning of manufacturing power, industrial base (industrial base) policy planning, the 14th Five-Year Plan for manufacturing industry, the "Four Bases" Development Catalog of Industry (2016 edition), and the "Industrial Base Innovation Development Catalog (2021 edition)" and other work. Andrew Y C Nee is currently Professor Emeritus, Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. He received his PhD and DEng from University of Manchester in 1973 and 2002 respectively. He is Fellow CIRP (1990), Fellow SME (1990) and Fellow Academy of Engineering Singapore (2012), Fellow of AAIA (2023). He was President of CIRP in 2012, and Gold Medal Recipient of SME in 2014. Awards include: IEEE Kayamori Award (1999), Norman A Dudley Award, International Journal of Production Research (2003), Joseph Whitworth Prize, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (2009). He was elected Asia’s top 100 Scientist, Asian Scientist Magazine, 2016. Research interests include: Tool, die and fixture design, augmented reality applications, digital twin, remanufacturing. He has graduated 53 PhD students, published over 500 papers and 25 books, GS citation of 28,450 and H-Index 81. He is Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Springer), and Executive Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Manufacturing (Shanghai and Springer), honorary professor of BUAA, NUAA, Shanghai, Tianjin, USST and HUST.

He is a Chair Professor in Sustainable Manufacturing and the Director of Centre of Excellence in Production Research (XPRES) at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. His research interests are primarily focused on human-robot collaboration, cyber-physical systems, real-time monitoring and control, predictive maintenance, and adaptive manufacturing systems. Professor Wang is actively engaged in various professional activities. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Robotics and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing, International Journal of Manufacturing Research, and Journal of Manufacturing Systems. He has published 10 books and authored in excess of 680 scientific publications. Professor Wang is a Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, AET, CIRP, SME and ASME; the President (2020-2021) of North American Manufacturing Research Institution of SME, and the Chairman (2018-2020) of Swedish Production Academy. In 2020, he was elected one of the 20 Most Influential Professors in Smart Manufacturing.

Prof. Ganiyusufoglu is the academician of German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), the Industrial Development Consultant of Qingdao International Academician Park, the advisory professor of Tongji University/ School of Mechanical Engineering (College of Mechanical Engineering Tongji University), Honorary Professor of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the guest professor of CUEB – Capital University for Economy and Business.
In 2019, he was invited to join the celebrations for 70th Anniversary of Republic of China incl. Parade at Tian’anmen Square. In 2018, he got Friendship Award of Chinese Government received from Mr. Liu He – Vice Prime Minister China (the Highest Award of China for a foreigner). In 2017, he received “Golden Pin” of VDI (German Engineers’ Association) for 40 years membership. In 2014, he received Friendship Award of Liaoning Province of China (Highest Award of the province for a foreigner). In 2012, he got Rose Prize of the City of Shenyang/China. In 2008, he got Award of the City of Dalian/China.
Prof. Ganiyusufoglu was born 1954 in Istanbul/ Turkey, German Citizen, resident in Germany and in China now. In 1979, he graduated from Technical University Berlin (Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology). In 1984, he got the Doctor Degree from IWF - Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology of TU Berlin.
He has served successively as the department manager for systems technology of Traub AG (Germany), the General Manager for Technics at Yamazaki Mazak GmbH (Japanese family-owned machine tool manufacturer), the Managing Director of Yamazaki Mazak GmbH, and the General Manager of Index Dalian Machine Tool Ltd (Joint venture between Index-Werke Esslingen and Dalian Machine Tool Group, Resident in Dalian).
From 2017 to 2019, he was elected as Chairman of Corporate Members Advisory Group CMAG within CIRP – International Academy for Production Engineering. Since 1977 till now, he is the member of VDI - German Engineers ’Association.
From 2011 to 2020, Prof. Ganiyusufoglu was the Consultant to Chairman of Shenyang Machine Tool Group Co., Ltd (Resident in Shenyang). He mainly supported to the Chairman and top management in all matters of machine tool business, especially globalization, international industrial and academic cooperation, transformation from state-owned enterprise to a global player. In 2014, SYMG became the Corporate Member of CIRP (the first Chinese company which was invited to join CIRP). Prof. Ganiyusufoglu represented SYMG at CIRP.
Since 2021, he takes up the position of the Industrial Development Consultant of Qingdao International Academician Park (QIAP), which build an eco-system that not only delivers full service and support for those academicians and enterprises with unique and innovative ideas, inventions from the research work over production, marketing till commercialization and business success, also produce a huge potential for synergies by the divers disciplines in the Park and offer Big Data for future Artificial Intelligence developments.
Prof. Ganiyusufoglu contributes to industrial development of QIAP by establishing fruitful relations to renowned international Science and Engineer Technology research institutes and innovative companies, especially from Germany. At the meanwhile, he devoted himself to forward his extensive global experience to young generation in Chinese industry and university.
