He is recognized internationally as a pioneer and leading scholar in Industrial Wireless Sensor Network (IWSN) research. He initiated and co-edited the first Special Section on Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks in the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics in 2009 and the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (TII) in 2013. He co-edited a textbook, Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks: Applications, Protocols and Standards (2013), the first on the topic. He is a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and a Senior Editor of IEEE Access. He has received the TII Best Paper Award (within the area of Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks).
Prof. Ling is the leading talent of the national ten thousand talents plan, the national ten million talents project, and an expert who enjoys the special government allowance of the State Council. He is the Deputy director of chemical machinery special committee of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, director of Jiangsu Key Laboratory of process strengthening and new energy equipment technology, etc. He has won more than 10 scientific and technological awards, including 1 second prize of national technological invention, 2 second prizes of national scientific and technological progress. He has presided over more than 20 projects such as the national science and technology support plan and the National Natural Science Foundation, and has undertaken more than 100 achievement transformation projects such as Jiangsu Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Fund and Enterprise Entrusted Projects, published more than 200 papers; achieved five international PCT granted patents, more than 40 Chinese invention granted patents, and more than 20 patents were transferred and licensed. Prof. Huang is the chief expert of Smart Grid Industry Chain in Jiangsu Province, the chairman of IEEE PES Technical Committee on interaction between electric vehicle and power grid (V2G), director and member of Academic Committee of Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, director and deputy director of radio energy transmission special committee of China Electrotechnical Society, editorial board of Transactions of China Electrotechnical Society and Journal of Automation of Electric Power Systems. He has edited 5 monographs and 2 National planning textbooks. He has published more than 200 papers and obtained nearly 100 invention patents. He has presided over nearly 70 major projects of the "863 Plan", national key R & D projects, National Natural Science Foundation, National Science and technology support and other projects.
